The Holton Merker-Matic Series Double French Horns were developed in cooperation with Horn legend Ether Merker. The Holton Merker Series Horns feature a variety of bell designs for a variety of tonal sound and response plus heavyweight valve caps for added mass and resonance.

Design features such as its newly designed 4th branch, dual bore, and mouthpipe tapers lead professionals to claim an ease of blowing in all registers as well as an exceptionally quick response and a smooth, precise legato. It is also available as a screw bell model.

Holton horns offer an alternative in design that creates a great experience for the young or advanced players. This Kruspe wrap model offers independent tuning for convenience allowing the player to tune the Bb side of the horn seperately from the F side.

This Farkas Wrap horn offers a medium throat bell with all nickel silver construction. In addition, the Merker-Matic horns all feature an independent tuning slide for the Bb side of the instrument for convenience and a dual bore .468″/.460″. Holton horns also feature tapered rotors which create longevity for the instrument. This model also features a detachable bell for convenience of travel.

The Holton H289 Merker Double French Horn is designed for players requiring great volume and sonorous tone without sacrificing control in the upper register, by introducing a solid Nickel Silver, extra large throat,detachable screw bell. It also includes the Merker 4th branch, dual bore and tapered mouthpipe for ease of blowing.

The Merker-Matic, as the Ethel Merker model is affectionately known, is a premium double French horn impeccably crafted to offer the ultimate in craftsmanship and tonal splendor. For those who prefer a brass horn, the Merker-Matic is available as model H183.

All Holton French Horns, including the single and double models, feature valve rotors that are tapered. This is so that as the valve wears, it automatically seats itself. This includes the bearing surfaces axles on each end of the valve and the bearing plates.

All Holton French Horn bells are made with overlapped seams. This is much more durable than one made with a butt seam. It also produces a better tone and timbre. This is one of the outstanding characteristics on which Holton USA French Horns developed its reputation.
